1) Entry fee is $3.00 per bird for the open show and $3.00 per bird for the junior show. Fees must be paid in full and accompany the entry form. We rarely accept phone entries.
2) Entry deadline is Sat. March 29, 2008 and must be postmarked by 12:00 midnight on that date. We rarely accept phone or late entries. Make check or money order payable to Gateway Poultry and mail to Rick Bond, 5244 Lick Creek Road, Morgantown, IN 46160.
3) Entries must be marked as follows: Standard or Bantam, bearded or non-bearded, color and variety. Failure to do so could result in you entry being disqualified. PLEASE PRINT CLEARLY.
4) Birds may be cooped from 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm Friday evening or 6:00 am to 8:45 am Saturday morning. All birds must be in their coops and ready for judging by 8:45 am Saturday. Judging will start promptly at 9:00 am. Junior birds will be released on Saturday when judging is complete and the awards have been given out. Open birds will be released Sunday morning after the Grand Champions have been announced.
5) All out-of-state birds must bring a negative pullorum-typhoid test certificate for all entries that can be made available for inspection, if requested. Any sick or lousy birds will be removed from the show.
6) Gateway Poultry Association, Inc. will not be responsible for any personal injury or loss of birds and reserves the right to refuse any entry. No person may handle any birds other than the ones they own.
7) No outsides sales or inside sales coops will be available in 2008. 10 foot by 10 foot inside sales areas will be available for $10. Bring your own tables or pens.
8) Jr. Show entries will be caged separately. Jr. exhibitors are 17 years old and under. The same rules and entry fees as for the Open Show apply. Jr. exhibitors must coop and show their own stock. Clearly mark Jr. entries or use a separate form.
9) Jr. Showmanship is open to those 17 and under. Sign up sheets will be provided at the show. The showmanship contest will begin at 12:30 pm but may be delayed if the Junior Show judging is not complete.
10) Participants in Jr. Showmanship will be judged on the condition of their bird, handling of the bird, appearance, and knowledge of poultry.
All birds will be judged in accordance with the Standard of Perfection. Any rules not covered will be referred to and decided by the Gateway Poultry Association officers. All protests must be made in writing and a $25 deposit turned in to the Show Secretary before the birds are released from the show. The Gateway officers and judges will make the final decision. In the event that no justification for the protest is found, the fee will be forfeited. Gateway Poultry Association, Inc. will use every precaution against accidents, theft, or fire but will not be responsible if any occur. No alcoholic beverages are permitted in the show room or on the fairgrounds.
